About Herb

Herb is running for Mayor because he is dedicated to O’Fallon and it’s residents. He will promote continued growth of our city in a fiscally solid manner and will place the highest priority on the quality of life of all residents. Herb believes O’Fallon should be a community where all citizens have input and can share in its growth and prosperity; a city where people want to raise their families and where businesses want to locate & grow.





He and his wife Nancy have been married for 46 years and they have three children (Lea, Kate & Todd) and seven grandchildren. They have been active in the community for over 35 years.




Small Business Owner:

As small business owners in O’Fallon for over 20 years, Herb and Nancy, who was born at Scott AFB, understand the importance of serving their customers, living within their means, balancing a budget, and meeting a payroll.

Herb’s family, who owned and operated their own small businesses in the area for over 150 years, taught him about personal integrity, prioritizing expenditures, giving back to the community and caring about others.


He continues to be recognized as a leader in Business and Organizational Development, through his activities as Vice President of SCORE, which is an affiliate of the Small Business Administration. SCORE provides counseling and training to small business owners.



Business Executive:

Herb spent 40 years working in the corporate business world, where he served as a member of Senior Management for Manufacturing, Distribution and Financial organizations. During his business career, he gained in-depth knowledge and experience in BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT, ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, FINANCE, BUDGETING & STRATEGIC PLANNING.

  • Worked to Develop over 15 facilities and management teams throughout the U.S. and 4 other countries
  • Member and lead negotiator on multiple merger and acquisition teams
  • Responsibilities Included:

Herb’s knowledge of Organizational Development & Leadership has been cited by Newsweek magazine and by Mr. Tom Peters. Mr. Peters has been recognized as one of the leading Quality and Business Gurus.

His Domestic & International business experience and ability to deal with complex governmental requirements has led to his serving as Vice President of the Southwest Illinois Trade and Investment Council. The Council works with firms throughout Southwestern Illinois to develop markets for their products in other countries.

  • Member of the Board of Directors of the Lindenwood University System, serving on the Facilities, Strategic Planning & Finance committees from 2005 to Present
  • Vice President of Board of Directors of Southwest Illinois Trade & Investment Council
  • Vice President of Local S.C.O.R.E. mentors to small businesses, affiliate of SBA
  • Member and Former Chairman of Employer Advisory Board to the Department of Labor in Washington D.C. for 6 years
  • Member of the State of Illinois Board of Education for 6 years & Chairman of the Technology Committee
  • Member of Board of Directors of Illinois State Chamber of Commerce for 5 years
  • Member and President of District 90 School Board for 8 years
  • Former Member of Greater St. Louis Regional Commerce & Growth Association’s Work Development Committee.
  • Past Member of the Greater St. Louis Arts and Education Council Advisory Panel, which serves counties in Illinois and Missouri
